Getting Started

eSamudaay is a “Business in a Box” Software solution which enables aspiring digital entrepreneurs to set-up and scale-up their Local e-Commerce Businesses.
Local eCommerce (also known as hyper-local commerce) falls under the umbrella of Offline-to-Online commerce (O2O). O2O means that retailers with physical stores can (and should) offer their inventory and sell to local online shoppers. 
It makes logical sense to sell to local customers before going out to the whole world. Many stores make the mistake of trying to sell online to the entire world before maximizing the local part. Local is typically within a 20 KM radius around the location of the store – the distance where a shopper may actually drive or local delivery can be quickly provided. 

LCommerce is a new term coined by eSamudaay to signify a company that is optimized to provide e-Commerce and other Digital services optimized for the local area.
Circle is a technical term in eSamudaay Back-end used to separate one LCommerce business from another. Each LCommerce business supported on eSamudaay gets a unique circle code which is used by both sellers and customers to connect with the LCommerce service provider.

Please see the below example to understand the concept of “Circle”:

1. Akash Chopra registers on to set up an LCommerce Business in Karnal in Haryana
2. After attending the information sharing sessions and doing detailed pre-launch planning, Akash decides to launch LCommerce in Karnal and incorporates his company – say – Karnal eSamudaay Digital Services Private Limited (KEDSPL)
3. A Circle Promoter agreement is signed between Karnal eSamudaay Digital Services Private Limited and Nirmund Digital Distributions Private Limited ( 
4. KEDSPL is provided a unique circle code KARNAL1 on eSamudaay
5. Akash decides to launch the Apps without any changes i.e. Users would need to choose KARNAL1 circle code to access KEDSPL services
6. Akash and team onboard many businesses such as Restaurants, Supermarkets, Kiranas, Vegetables and Fruits Vendors, Meat Stores, Pharmacies, Service Providers, etc. who each download and configure the eSamudaay Seller Mobile App (Foore). During the configuration, each seller chooses the Circle Code KARNAL1
7. Akash and team now market their services and Customers download the eSamudaay Consumer App
8. During registration, the Consumer App discovers KARNAL1 circle using GPS location and suggests that they connect with that Circle.
9. As soon as they do that, all the sellers connected to the circle KARNAL1 are visible to the consumer and any new seller added to the circle is also automatically visible.
In the above example, KEDSPL is a Circle Promoter of KARNAL1 and Akash is a Circle Promoter CEO of KARNAL1.

While Console is a Digital Tool (software) specifically designed for Circle Promoters which is easily accessible by clicking on a link Circle Promoter Console and makes the CP job easy by managing everything in a circle from your desktop.
Anyone with Local Knowledge, access to seed capital of around Rs. 5L, strong work ethic, local relationships, ability to hire a team locally, and preferably working knowledge (even as a consumer) of Hyper-local digital commerce is ideally suited to be a Circle Promoter. Keen interest in developing your locality/town/community and experience in Digital Marketing is a plus.

Console help you in every stage while you’re doing business in a circle, Below are things you can do.

2. Once you registered yourself, you will receive the webinar link, please attend the webinar in your available time slots, at the end of the webinar, you will have a form fill out for a face to face interview with our Circle Promotor relationship head.
In the long run (within 12 months of launching), your LCommerce business will include all aspects of commerce in your town such as buying/selling of Products including Foods, Grocery, Fashion, Electronics, Medicines and Services such as Tuitions, Home Services, Accounting Services, Doctors, Dentists, Salons etc.

However to begin with, we recommend that the LCommerce entity focuses on the buying and selling of Products with specific focus on Restaurants in the beginning because our research indicates higher margin from restaurants and also a strong consumer preference to App-based ordering from restaurants.
Having a partner with experience and capability for local delivery will be a definite advantage. However, if the LCommerce entrepreneur has the capability (financial and organizational) to hire delivery staff, we recommend that initially, delivery operations are managed in-house.

After all the required documents have been verified and your Circle Promoter profile is complete on Circle Promoter Console, you can start onboarding merchants and start selling.

LCommerce Businesses start providing a profit at a minimum scale of around 50 sellers each generating an average order volume of Rs. 6000 per day per seller. We recommend that the LCommerce business is launched only after at least 50 sellers are on-boarded and the subscription and onboarding fees are collected from these 50 sellers.

Pricing & Payments

All prices of products are decided by the seller. We recommend that the Circle Promoter regularly monitor these prices, compare them with other eCommerce platforms and advice sellers accordingly to be competitive.
eSamudaay charges the LCommerce entity Rs. 200 per month per seller and Rs. 100 per month per delivery agent active in the Circle. This is subject to a minimum of 100 sellers and 50 delivery agents. Hence, Circle Promoter pays eSamudaay Rs. 25,000 per month for the first 100 sellers and first 50 delivery agents. For every additional seller and delivery agent, the incremental Rs. 200 and Rs. 100 respectively will be charged.

LCommerce entity can bill the Sellers as follows:
1. Rs. 400 per month Plus GST
2. Rs 1250 onboarding fee (one-time, non-refundable) Plus GST
3. Some percentage of order (agreed on a case to case basis and included in the Seller agreement) Plus GST

LCommerce entity or it’s delivery partners also charges the Customer a delivery convenience fee which is decided based on cost. We recommend that Delivery fee is a round figure tiered by distance which is inclusive of GST.
When a customer purchases  any products in your circle, the payment will be made directly to your bank account through UPI transactions and you need to settle merchants payments within 6 to 7 business days based on your seller agreement.
While the actual commission percentage can be negotiated with each seller, below is guidance on commission structure based on seller category.

Listings & Catalog

Listing a product refers to filling out all the necessary information and adding images of the product so that a customer can make an informed buying decision.
Your seller is required to have a minimum of 10 listings to start selling on eSamudaay.
In a Circle promotor training,We give you a step-by-step process of how to list your sellers products on eSamudaay with help of Circle Promoter Console. It is important to choose the most suitable category to list your sellers’ products as it will help customers find products faster. Based on the category you choose, you’ll be asked to include product details such as price, weight etc.
You can create a product catalog using the Circle Promoter Console. You will be trained on how to add images and crisp content while creating the product catalog.

Order Management & Shipping

1. If a merchant opts for Circle Promoter fulfillment then your delivery agents or your logistics partner will pick up the product from the Merchant Store and deliver it to the customer. 
2. If a Merchant opts for Seller-fulfillment then the merchant himself will deliver the products to the customers.
Through our Seller Management dashboard, we make it really easy for you to manage your seller orders and see how many orders are received in your circle? How many are pending? etc and Complete details of orders in a day, Weekly, and Monthly.
Not yet and this is in the pipeline to ensure that environmental friendly packaging material is provided to eSamudaay CPs. At this moment, we can guide and connect you with vendors who can deliver the packaging material.
It depends on the issue your customer is facing. If it is a technical issue, eSamudaay tech team will be able to assist you in resolving the issue. Other issues will have to be managed by you as the business entity is yours and you are the business owner. Of course, our team will always be there to help you, guide you and connect you with the right person to resolve the issue.


Swiggy and Zomato have four major weaknesses:

1. High commission structure – Any lower commission structure will incentivise Restaurants to consider alternatives. 
2. Data transparency – Platforms like Swiggy and Zomato hide the customer details from the restaurant. In LCommerce, we make strong Producer-Consumer relationships and this is appreciated by our partners. Given this, all our sellers also actively market the app to their regular customers
3. Local decision making and support – Most restaurants appreciate a local business supporting them because on many platforms, resolving issues is a time consuming and frustrating experience
4. Lowest pricing – Since LCommerce entities are able to provide the lowest commission structures, restaurants are able to offer competitive pricing to the customers on the LCommerce App

In addition to the above, LCommerce Apps provided consumers with additional products other than food which makes the App more useful compared to Swiggy and Zomato. These products could include Fashion, Electronics, Medicines, Fruits/Vegetables, Meat/Fish, etc.
